Overview

Every survey in MangoApps is a Forms template underneath — the same field types, submission records, and data model as any other form in the platform, not a separate response store. An existing published form can become a survey in one step, without rebuilding a single question.

Anonymity is enforced at the model layer, not just a UI checkbox: once a survey collects a response, anonymity can no longer be turned off. The same protection runs through results, heatmaps, and exports, where segments stay hidden below a configurable minimum response count. Timestamps on anonymous responses are also coarsened to the day, so they can't be cross-referenced against badge or VPN logs to re-identify someone.

AI drafts a full survey from a short prompt and summarizes sentiment, themes, and focus areas once responses arrive — a starting point HR reviews and acts on, not an automatic decision.

See a survey drafted from a single sentence, distributed by email invite, link, or QR code, and read back as AI sentiment, themes, and focus areas sliced by department, location, or tenure.

Highlights

Draft a complete survey from a sentence — AI writes the questions and response types for you to refine.
Start from five built-in templates, a curated cross-customer library, or by duplicating a past survey.
Target everyone or specific departments, locations, and groups, and keep responses anonymous.
Distribute by email invite, authenticated link, public link, or QR code, and auto-remind non-respondents.
Read results as AI sentiment, themes, and focus areas — no analyst required.
Slice results by department, location, manager, tenure, or performance tier, with anonymity protected by a response threshold.

Use cases

Employee engagement survey
HR drafts an anonymous engagement survey from a template or an AI prompt, targets all departments, sets a close date, and reviews sentiment, themes, and focus areas once responses clear the minimum threshold.
Weekly pulse check
A manager runs a short pulse survey to gauge morale, shares a public link or QR code for easy access, and reads the numeric distributions on the results dashboard.
New-hire onboarding feedback
HR sends the built-in New Hire template to recent joiners to measure onboarding quality, then filters results by tenure bracket to spot where the experience breaks down.
Exit interviews
HR duplicates the Exit Interview template for departing employees, collects structured reasons and open comments, and browses highlighted comments to inform retention.
Always-on anonymous feedback
Employees raise concerns any time through the topic-based anonymous feedback channel; HR triages the inbox by topic and status, adds action notes, and closes items out.

FAQ

Yes. Set a survey to anonymous during creation and respondent identities are suppressed in results, the comment browser, and CSV exports. Anonymity is a promise: once responses exist it can no longer be turned off, so identities can never be exposed retroactively.

Results, per-question summaries, heatmap cells, and open-text comments only unlock once a survey clears a minimum response count (5 by default, admin-configurable). This prevents demographic filters from slicing an anonymous survey down to a single identifiable person.

Both. Describe what you want in a sentence and AI drafts the whole survey — sections and questions with the right response types — which you refine in the builder. Or start manually from five built-in templates, a curated cross-customer library, an existing published form, or a duplicate of a past survey. Supported question types include rating scales, single- and multi-select, short and long text, number, slider, and scale, with conditional logic and multi-page layouts in the advanced builder.

Target all employees or specific departments, locations, or groups, then reach them by email invitation, an authenticated (login-required) link, a public no-login link, or a QR code, with open/close dates you schedule. Reminders are automated: the Send Reminders action finds employees who haven't responded yet and nudges only them.

AI drafts a complete survey from a prompt, and after responses come in it produces a full analysis: overall sentiment, a positive/neutral/negative/mixed distribution, key themes from open-text comments, top focus areas with priority and impact, and an executive summary. The Ask AI Surveys agent can also list surveys, report analytics, and (for admins) activate, close, duplicate, or remind. An administrator can turn AI features off per business.

Surveys measure employee opinion and engagement — anonymous responses, per-question analytics, sentiment/theme analysis, and heatmaps by department or tenure. Forms collect structured operational data through a published form you distribute (and a survey can even be built from an existing form). Ballots are for anonymous voting and elections where the outcome is a tally, not an analysis. Reach for Surveys when you want to understand how people feel and why.

Surveys requires a license and is opt-in per tenant — an administrator enables it for your business from the Apps Marketplace, and it stays disabled by default until then. Contact your MangoApps administrator about enabling it.

Admins and HR see full results and can export raw responses to CSV. Managers get a team-scoped view limited to their direct reports. Results can be sliced by department, location, manager, tenure, employee type, and — when Performance Management is enabled — performance tier.
