Overview

Skill Swap creates an internal marketplace where employees can share their expertise and learn from colleagues. Features include skill profiles, learning opportunities, mentorship matching, and knowledge exchange.

See how Skill Swap matches employees who want to teach or learn a skill with a skill-overlap engine, turns an accepted match into a structured mentoring partnership with scheduled sessions, notes, and mutual ratings, and measures adoption on an admin analytics dashboard.

Highlights

Post opportunities to teach a skill, learn one, staff a project, or run a group session.
Match teachers and learners with a skill-overlap engine that ranks partners by compatibility, not just keywords.
Turn an accepted match into a structured mentoring partnership with scheduled sessions, notes, and mutual ratings.
Ask the built-in AI agent to find mentors, browse opportunities, and even complete or pause your partnerships by chat.
Measure adoption with an admin analytics dashboard — most-taught and most-wanted skills, success rate, and CSV/JSON export.
Browse, express interest, and manage partnerships on a mobile-optimized interface.

Use cases

Cross-team knowledge sharing
A data analyst posts a teaching opportunity for SQL basics, three colleagues from marketing express interest, and the owner accepts them into a lunch-and-learn series.
Mentorship matching
A junior developer posts a learning request for system design; Skill Swap ranks senior engineers by skill overlap, and one accepts to become their mentor.
New skill acquisition
An operations manager adds 'data visualization' to their learning interests and gets matched to a colleague who lists Tableau among their teachable skills.
Onboarding buddy system
New hires browse the opportunity board for experienced employees offering to share institutional knowledge, then book structured sessions during their first 90 days.
Program adoption tracking
An L&D admin filters analytics by department to see the most-wanted skills and partnership success rate, then exports the data to CSV for a leadership review.

FAQ

Skill Swap requires a license and is opt-in per tenant — it is disabled by default. An administrator enables it for your organization from the Apps Marketplace before employees can use it.

Matching is skill-overlap based, not a black-box AI. Skill Swap scores each candidate on how well their teachable skills line up with an opportunity's needed skills and how well their learning interests line up with what's offered, adds a small cross-department bonus, and ranks the results. Each match shows a compatibility score and the specific shared skills. Admins can restrict matching to the same department.

When an opportunity owner accepts an interested person, Skill Swap automatically creates a learning partnership with a mentor and a learner. Either side can schedule sessions with a date, duration, agenda, and type (virtual, in-person, lunch & learn, or phone), add notes, and mark sessions complete, cancelled, or no-show. Both partners rate each other 1–5 stars, and teaching ratings roll up to the mentor's skill averages.

By default each employee can hold up to 5 active opportunities (admins can raise this or set it to unlimited). Each posting can have 1–50 participants, and a single session can run up to 8 hours.

Skills & Certifications tracks and verifies the skills and credentials employees hold, and Training / Practice Hub deliver formal courses and practice. Skill Swap is a separate peer-to-peer marketplace: it's where colleagues offer to teach, request to learn, and pair up for informal mentoring — it maintains its own lightweight, self-declared skill profiles rather than the org's system of record.

Yes. Every employee can browse and search the opportunity board and express interest in any listing without creating one of their own.

From Ask AI, the Skill Swap agent can browse open opportunities, find mentors for a specific skill, summarize your profile, and list your partnerships. It can also take actions on records you're part of — completing or pausing a partnership, or pausing one of your opportunities — always showing a diff preview and asking you to confirm first. An admin toggle enables or disables the agent per business.

Yes. A mobile-optimized interface lets employees browse opportunities, express or withdraw interest, and view their partnerships on the go, with automatic redirect between the desktop and mobile views.
