UPS Battery Health and Runtime Check

Inspection template to verify UPS units are online, battery health is acceptable, and measured runtime meets the minimum required threshold for critical power readiness.

Inspection Details

• UPS asset ID / location recorded
  Record the specific UPS unit identifier and physical location inspected.
• Inspection date and time recorded
  Document when the inspection was performed.
• Inspector name and signature captured
  Inspector attests the inspection was completed accurately.

UPS Online Status and Alarms

• UPS is online and supplying load normally
  Verify the UPS indicates normal online operation and is supporting the connected load.
• No active critical alarms or fault indicators present
  Confirm there are no active fault, bypass, battery, or inverter alarms requiring immediate response.
• Input and output status indicators normal
  Verify indicator lights, display status, and operating mode show normal conditions.
• Bypass mode not engaged unless documented and approved
  Confirm the UPS is not in bypass mode unless there is a documented maintenance or operational exception.

Battery Health and Condition

• Battery health status acceptable
  Record the battery health condition shown by the UPS monitoring interface or battery management system.
• Battery cabinet and connections free of visible damage, corrosion, or leakage
  Inspect the battery enclosure, terminals, and visible cabling for physical defects or electrolyte leakage.
• Battery replacement or maintenance due date not exceeded
  Verify the battery service interval, replacement date, or maintenance schedule is current.
• Ambient temperature around UPS within manufacturer range
  Record the ambient temperature near the UPS and compare it to the manufacturer-recommended operating range.

Runtime Verification

• Measured battery runtime meets minimum required threshold
  Record the available runtime under current load and verify it meets the site minimum for critical operations.
• Runtime test method documented
  Identify how runtime was determined.
• Connected load percentage recorded
  Record the approximate load percentage at the time of inspection.

Corrective Actions and Sign-Off

• Deficiencies documented with corrective action
  List any deficiencies, non-conformances, or follow-up actions required, including owner and target completion date.
• Escalation to maintenance or AHJ required if critical item failed
  Confirm critical failures were escalated according to site procedure and maintenance workflow.
