Daily visual inspection for indoor or outdoor used motor oil tanks to verify tank level, leak-free condition, secondary containment integrity, and spill readiness.

Inspection Details

• Inspection date and time recorded
• Inspector name or identifier recorded
• Tank location identified
  Record the indoor or outdoor tank location, such as service bay, exterior pad, or waste oil area.

Tank Level and Fill Condition

• Tank level is within the safe operating range
  Record the observed level or fill percentage. The tank should not be overfilled and should remain within site operating limits.
• Tank is not approaching overflow or venting risk
  Verify there is no visible condition indicating imminent overflow, backflow, or uncontrolled release.
• Fill cap, hatch, and access points are closed and secure

Tank Condition and Leak Check

• No visible leaks, drips, or staining on the tank exterior
• Tank shell, seams, and fittings show no visible corrosion, bulging, or damage
• Piping, valves, and connections are intact and free of visible leakage

Secondary Containment and Housekeeping

• Secondary containment is present and free of standing oil
  Inspect the containment area, berm, pan, or dike for accumulated oil, sheen, or pooled liquid.
• Containment surfaces are free of oil staining that indicates a recent release
• Area around the tank is clean, accessible, and free of obstructions
  Ensure the inspector can safely approach the tank and containment without tripping hazards or blocked access.

Spill Readiness and Corrective Actions

• Spill kit is present and accessible near the tank area
• Any deficiency, leak, or non-conformance was reported and escalated
  Document whether the issue was communicated to the supervisor, maintenance lead, or environmental contact per site procedure.
• Corrective action or work order number recorded
  Enter the work order, incident, or corrective action reference if any issue was identified.
