Inspection Details and Startup Authorization

• Inspection date and shift recorded
• Inspector name and role recorded
• Equipment identification matches the unit to be started
  Record the machine ID, line number, or asset tag for the extruder/pug mill being inspected.
• Lockout-tagout cleared and startup authorized by competent person
  Confirm the machine is released for startup and no active LOTO devices remain on the equipment.

Vacuum System and De-Airing Readiness

• Vacuum pump operational and at normal running condition
• Vacuum gauge within the acceptable operating range
  Enter the observed vacuum reading for the de-airing system.
• Vacuum hoses, seals, and connections free of leaks or visible damage
• Vacuum chamber and access points clean and properly closed
• Vacuum relief, alarms, or indicators functioning as expected

Auger, Barrel, and Material Feed Condition

• Auger condition acceptable with no abnormal wear, cracks, or missing sections
• Barrel, liner, and wear surfaces free of obstruction or buildup
• Feed hopper contains only approved material and is free of foreign objects
• Material feed rate controls and guards in place and functional
• No unusual noise, vibration, or binding observed during jog or pre-start check

Water Addition, Mix Consistency, and Die Mounting

• Water addition system set to the specified process rate
  Enter the water addition setting or target percentage used for the batch.
• Water lines, valves, and spray points free of leaks and blockage
• Material consistency suitable for extrusion without excessive dryness or slumping
• Die mounted securely, aligned, and free of cracks or damage
• Die face, adapter, and mounting hardware tightened to specification

Column Formation, Cutting Readiness, and Final Safety Check

• Column is forming evenly and ready for cutting
  Confirm the extruded column is stable, continuous, and suitable for the cutting stage.
• Cutting area clear, guarded, and free of obstructions
• Guards, emergency stops, and controls accessible and functional
• Housekeeping clear around extruder, pug mill, and cutting station
