Aerial Boom Lift Pre-Operation Inspection

Inspection Setup

• Equipment identification recorded
  Record unit ID, make/model, and location.
• Operator is trained and authorized to use this lift
• Pre-use inspection performed at start of shift and before first use

Walk-Around Structural Check

• No visible structural damage, cracks, bends, or missing fasteners
• No hydraulic, fuel, or battery fluid leaks present
• Platform gate, guardrails, and toe boards secure and undamaged
• Tires, wheels, and lug nuts in safe condition
• Outriggers or stabilizers free of damage and ready to deploy

Controls and Functional Test

• Emergency stop functions correctly at ground and platform controls
• All movement controls operate smoothly and return to neutral
• Horn or audible warning device operates properly
• Level switch / tilt alarm functions correctly
• Upper and lower controls respond as intended
• Emergency lowering device operates correctly

Safety Devices and Operating Readiness

• Safety decals, capacity placards, and operating instructions are legible
• Platform load capacity is known and will not be exceeded
• Battery charge or fuel level is sufficient for planned work
• Work area is clear of overhead obstructions and ground hazards

Deficiencies and Release

• Deficiencies documented with corrective action
• Lift tagged out of service if any critical item failed
• Inspector signature
