Meal Compliance reads your employees' meal-break clock punches from Time & Attendance over a configurable window (default 14 days) and classifies each person as waiving, taking, or inconsistent. Days with a completed meal break count as taken; days where the meal break was skipped count as waived. When the pattern changes against an employee's active waiver, the change is logged and can trigger an alert or an automatic invalidation.

Time & Attendance (and Timesheets) records the raw clock-in, clock-out, and break punches — it is the system of record for hours worked. Meal Compliance is the layer on top: it reads those meal-break punches to manage the legal paperwork, creating and tracking waivers, detecting behavior changes, and flagging compliance gaps. It never edits punches; it only consumes them.

Not as an automated rule engine. Each waiver carries a jurisdiction tag (a US state code such as CA or NY) and the generated PDF references the law of that jurisdiction, but the app does not apply per-state meal-length or timing thresholds for you, and it tracks meal breaks only — rest breaks are out of scope. Use it to manage voluntary meal-waiver consent and surface who is skipping meals without a waiver; consult your own counsel on the specific state rules that apply.

No. Meal Compliance flags behavior changes and missing waivers so you can act before they become exposure, but it does not compute the premium (penalty) pay owed for a non-compliant meal period. Pay calculations live in your payroll and Time & Attendance flows.

It's configurable. When 'Require E-Signature' is on, sending a waiver generates a PDF with voluntary-consent language and routes it through the MangoApps E-Signature app; the waiver activates automatically once the employee signs. With it off, you can manage waiver status without the signing step.

Active waivers have a validity window (default 365 days). A renewal reminder email goes out ahead of the expiry date (default 14 days' lead time, configurable 1–60). Once a waiver lapses, a background sweep marks it expired so it stops counting as active, and the employee resurfaces in the compliance-gap report if they are still skipping meals.

Autonomous mode is off by default. When enabled, an AI loop runs every four hours to detect gaps, expiries, and behavior changes, then emails renewal reminders and manager gap-alerts on its own. Riskier actions like invalidating a waiver require approval. You set a confidence threshold (80–100%), a daily action cap (1–500), and a trust tier (probation / standard / trusted) to control how much it does unattended.

It requires a license and is opt-in per tenant — an administrator enables it for your business from the Apps Marketplace. It is disabled by default until then. Contact your MangoApps administrator about turning it on for your organization.
