Report Agent
Intelligent reporting assistant that generates custom reports from natural language queries with rich visualizations.
Meet the agent
This app ships with a production AI agent — permission-aware, tenant-scoped, audit-logged, and governed by the Agent Development Lifecycle.
Reporting AI
Plain-English query, refine in place, multi-format export.
Overview
Report Agent turns a plain-English question into a real report. Ask “headcount by department this quarter” in the Ask AI chat and the agent picks the data domain, builds and validates the query, retrying itself when the first attempt doesn't validate, and answers with a table and an auto-selected chart. Say “filter for active only” or “group by location instead” and it refines that same report rather than starting over. Six agent tools cover the loop end to end: generate a report, refine it, export it, list your saved reports, open one report's details, and pull the reports you ran most recently. Prefer to click? The visual builder lets you pick columns, metrics, grouping and filters by hand, suggests columns from a written description, auto-populates filter dropdowns from your own data, and previews the result live before you save. Save a report under a name, favorite it, duplicate it, and set its visibility to private, shared with named teammates, or public to the organization. Put any saved report on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly schedule delivered by email, POSTed to a webhook, or generated for download — in CSV, Excel, PDF or JSON, with each format separately switchable by an admin. Reporting spans 44 native Workforce data domains (6 admin opt-in), each with its own on/off toggle, so an administrator decides exactly what is reportable; sensitive domains such as compensation and performance apply their own access checks on top. Admins also get a Usage Analytics tab inside the app: Ask AI turns, people asking, the completed rate with its sample size, runs and outcomes by domain, and the most-asked questions. On a phone, people browse, open, re-run and favorite saved reports and run or pause a schedule — reports are authored on the desktop app.
Ask a workforce question in plain English and get a custom report — refine it conversationally, schedule recurring email or webhook delivery, and export to CSV, Excel, PDF, or JSON.

FAQ
Yes. Alongside the plain-English Ask AI path, the Report Agent app includes a visual builder where you point-and-click columns, metrics, and grouping. It suggests columns from a written description, auto-populates filter dropdowns from your own data, auto-selects a fitting chart (bar, line, pie, doughnut, area), and shows a live preview before you save.
No. Describe what you want in plain English. The agent interprets your request, picks the right data source, builds the query, and can even auto-correct itself if the first attempt doesn't validate.
Forty-four native Workforce domains, including employees and departments, attendance and timekeeping, shifts and scheduling, performance reviews, OKRs, competencies, succession, feedback, compensation and merit, leave and PTO, training, recruiting (candidates and jobs), onboarding, promotions, Service Desk tickets, and assets. Six domains are off until an admin turns them on: procurement purchase orders and requisitions, benefit plans and enrolments, and expense reports and expense lines. Each domain can be toggled on or off in settings. External or third-party data sources are not supported.
Yes. Say "filter for active only" or "group by location instead" and the agent modifies the existing report without starting from scratch. In the builder you can also adjust columns, filters, and chart type directly.
Yes. Any saved report can run on a recurring schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly — and be emailed to recipients, POSTed to a webhook, or generated for download only, in CSV, Excel, PDF, or JSON. A schedule can be triggered immediately or enabled and disabled without deleting it. SFTP delivery is not yet available.
CSV, Excel-compatible spreadsheet (opens directly in Excel), formatted PDF, and JSON for API use. Admins can enable or disable each format in settings; JSON is always available.
Access is role-based. Managers, admins, and super admins (plus users granted app-admin for this app) can generate and manage reports. Sensitive domains such as compensation and performance apply their own additional access checks, and reports respect private / shared / public visibility.
Queries return up to 10,000 rows. Previews (in Ask AI and in the report builder) show 5–50 rows (admin-configurable), and each user can save up to 50 reports by default (admins can raise, lower, or make it unlimited).
Yes. Admins get a Usage Analytics page inside the app showing Ask AI turns, how many people have asked at least one question, the current saved-report total, and the share of Ask AI turns in the last 30 days that reached an answer — with the sample size beside it, so an unmeasured rate reads as unmeasured rather than as zero. Below that: report runs by data domain (top 10, last 30 days) with each domain's last-used date, report run outcomes broken out as completed, failed, timed out, and rejected, the most-asked questions, and a daily usage trend. The page is admin-only.
The Report Agent requires a license and is opt-in per tenant on the Standard platform tier — an administrator enables it from the Apps Marketplace. It is disabled by default until then. Contact your MangoApps administrator about enabling it for your organization.
