Overview

Payroll Processing is the in-house payroll engine. Consumes approved timesheets from the Timesheets app, handles deductions, tax calculations, multi-state compliance, and direct deposit. Use this when you want MangoApps to run payroll directly; use Payroll Connect instead to integrate with an external provider like ADP, Gusto, or Workday.

Highlights

Run payroll in-house with MangoApps as the system of record — no external payroll provider required.
Consume approved timesheets from the Timesheets app and calculate gross pay including regular, overtime, and premium hours.
Apply pre-tax and post-tax deductions: 401(k), HSA/FSA, benefits, garnishments, and custom employer/employee contributions.
Calculate federal, state, and local tax withholdings with multi-state support for distributed workforces.
Issue payments via direct deposit, printed check, or pay card and generate compliant pay stubs.
Produce payroll tax filings, W-2s, and 1099s with year-end compliance workflows.

Use cases

End-to-end payroll processing
An admin runs bi-weekly payroll by pulling approved timesheets from the Timesheets app, previewing gross-to-net calculations, approving the run, and distributing payments via direct deposit — all inside MangoApps.
Multi-state tax withholding
A distributed workforce with employees in multiple states has correct federal, state, and local taxes withheld based on work location allocation.
Year-end tax filing
Admins generate W-2s for employees and 1099s for contractors, review totals, and electronically file with the IRS and state agencies from within the app.
Benefit deduction automation
When an employee enrolls in benefits via the Benefits Management app, the corresponding deductions flow automatically into payroll without manual entry.
Off-cycle bonus payroll
An HR admin runs an off-cycle payroll to distribute annual bonuses, calculates bonus-specific tax withholding, and issues payments outside the regular pay schedule.
