Use cases

Compliance monitoring
HR reviews a single dashboard showing employees with visas expiring in the configured window, I-9 reverifications due within 30 days, and missing emergency contacts, then sends in-app reminders to the selected people.
Custom field rollout
An admin creates custom employee fields for T-shirt size and dietary preferences ahead of a company event, sets them optional, orders them, and tracks completion via the per-field usage report.
Profile update approval
An employee updates their address, which routes to their manager for approval. The reviewer sees the change's impact flags for payroll, benefits, and compliance, and can set a future effective date before approving.
Sensitive PII access
An HR admin needs an employee's full SSN for a filing. The value is masked in the profile; revealing it requires a password/PIN step-up and is logged per field, so every access is auditable.

FAQ

People (Employee Data Management) requires a license and is opt-in per tenant — an administrator enables it for your business from the Apps Marketplace. It is disabled by default until then. Contact your MangoApps administrator about turning it on for your organization.

The company people directory is searchable by name, title, or email and filterable by department, location, role, job function, and employment status. An interactive org chart shows manager and direct-report hierarchy, plus a My Team view and department-level lookups. Admins can toggle whether the org chart is visible to everyone or only to managers and admins.

There are 72 standard fields spanning personal, contact, employment, compensation, and compliance sections. Each has an edit permission (employee, manager, or admin), a directory-visibility toggle, and an optional required flag. Admins can also add unlimited custom fields across 16 field types (text, number, date, select, file, currency, rating, and more) organized into 10 categories, with ordering, validation rules, and a completion-rate usage report.

When self-service is enabled, employees can request changes to their own fields. If manager routing is on, changes flow through a multi-step approval workflow with routing rules. Reviewers see impact analysis flags for payroll, benefits, and compliance, can set a future effective date, and can bulk approve or reject with a reason. Requests are audit-logged and can be exported to CSV, with configurable SLA reminder and escalation windows.

Sensitive fields — SSN (last 4), date of birth, EEO/demographic data, and immigration details — are masked by default in the profile. Revealing a value requires a step-up re-verification with a password or PIN that stays valid for 15 minutes, and every reveal is logged per field, so access is fully auditable.

Yes. Admins can bulk-import employees from a CSV using a downloadable template and export the directory to CSV. For ongoing payroll or HRIS synchronization (including SFTP), use the separate Payroll Connect and HRIS Connect apps — People itself moves data via CSV.
