Overview

Most company feeds rank for engagement, so the same algorithm that decides ranking also decides what someone never sees. Communications keeps those separate: who can see a post — everyone or a segment — is an explicit choice at publish time, not a ranking outcome. Personalization, like following a topic, only ever changes when a post surfaces, never whether it does.

Must-Read posts add a persistent acknowledge action with immutable, auditable records, so a safety alert or policy rollout leaves a real compliance trail. Ask a question and MangoApps routes it to the right subject-matter expert or surfaces a verified answer someone already gave — which then feeds Ask AI, so the same question doesn't get answered twice. Topic tagging, thread summaries, and signal extraction are admin opt-in throughout: AI saves reading time, it never decides who's allowed to read.

Communicators get their own faces on top of that same feed. Plan lays every campaign, newsletter, and must-read on one calendar months ahead, with approvals and brand voices before anything sends. Measure reports reach, read-through, and acknowledgement across feed posts and break-through sends on a single ledger, so you chase one outstanding list instead of reconciling three disconnected dashboards. One composer covers all four intensities — Post, Announcement, Must-Read, and Break-through — so choosing how loudly to communicate is a deliberate setting, not a choice between three different apps.

Highlights

One composer, four intensities — Post, Announcement, Must-Read, and Break-through — so the dial, not the app choice, decides how loudly a message lands.
Give every employee one personal zone: the tiered company feed, their Inbox with an Announcements lane, direct Messages, and a My Posts lifecycle home.
Track acknowledgements on one audit-grade ledger — feed must-reads and break-through broadcasts, same records, same compliance roster.
Plan everything on one calendar, then run newsletters, multi-touch campaigns, event-driven triggers, and approval workflows behind it.
Write with AI in your organization's trained Brand Voices and grade drafts for readability, tone, inclusivity, and PII before they ship.
Reach beyond the feed when it matters: break-throughs deliver by email, SMS, and voice with per-channel delivery receipts.

Use cases

Frontline safety notice
The safety team publishes a Must-Read scoped to one site with an expiry date. Acknowledgements are tracked per person, reminders chase anyone outstanding, and the compliance roll-up shows exactly who is still missing.
Policy rollout with an audit trail
HR publishes a policy as a Must-Read. Acknowledgement records are immutable and exportable to CSV, so the audit trail does not depend on anyone remembering to keep a spreadsheet.
Urgent operational message that cannot wait for the feed
A regional manager sends a Break-through. It leaves the feed and delivers on email, SMS, and voice with per-channel receipts, escalating until it is acknowledged.
Weekly frontline newsletter
A publication pulls dynamic blocks — open shifts, new hires, recognitions, course completions — on a set cadence. Blocks freeze at send, so what went out stays provable months later.
Editorial planning for a small comms team
Plan the year in the Annual Plan, evolve slots into ideas, draft with the AI Writer in your Brand Voice, route through an approval workflow, then read open and click analytics in one place.
Ask-the-company Q&A
An employee asks a Question; the best reply is promoted to a verified Correct Answer, which feeds the knowledge base Ask AI searches, so the next person gets the answer instantly.
Employee pulse poll
A manager runs an anonymous ranked-choice poll; after it closes, an AI summary calls out the leading option, decisiveness, and participation.

FAQ

They are one app now. Communications is the merged product: the company feed employees browse and talk back to, the break-through push channel for messages that cannot wait, and the planning layer — calendar, campaigns, newsletters, approvals — behind both. Rather than choosing an app, you choose an intensity in one composer: Post, Announcement, Must-Read, or Break-through. The old Comms Hub and Broadcasts marketplace entries are retired and their surfaces now live under Communications. Emergency alerts with muster roll-call moved separately, to Safety Hub.

Communications is a licensed marketplace app. It is disabled by default and an administrator enables it per tenant from the Apps Marketplace — there is no automatic org-wide rollout.

A Post is social content. An Announcement is operational content that ranks above social. A Must-Read is an operational post that requires a persistent acknowledgement and carries a mandatory expiry — after the window closes it is archived and drops off the active feed. A Break-through leaves the feed entirely and delivers on email, SMS, and voice, escalating until it is acknowledged. Social content can never be made Must-Read, so acknowledgement cannot be forced on water-cooler chatter.

Every message goes to Everyone or is scoped to an audience. Audiences resolve from data MangoApps already has — departments, locations, roles, job titles, shift assignments, named users — and can be composed with AND / OR / wrap logic. The same audience serves a feed post, a break-through, a newsletter, and a campaign touch. You see an estimated reach before you publish, and the recipient list is frozen as a snapshot at publish so the compliance roster cannot drift afterwards. Who may post to Everyone is an admin policy.

The send is refused. Recipients are resolved immediately before the state transition, and if the audience resolves to nobody the message is not marked published or sent — it stays editable and tells you which audience needs attention. This applies to feed posts, break-throughs, scheduled and recurring sends, the API, and newsletter issues. A message is never reported as delivered when nobody received it.

No. Every AI capability in Communications produces a draft. Drafting, rewriting, channel-native copy, whole-issue newsletter generation, and the Ask AI admin assistant all stop at a draft that a person must explicitly confirm. There is no autonomous publishing or sending, and no setting that enables it.

There are two. A read-only help assistant answers questions about how Communications works and is available to everyone who can use the app. An admin assistant helps communicators draft and schedule, and is limited to administrators — every write it makes is a draft and requires confirmation. Publishing, cancelling, approving, and newsletter sending are deliberately not available to either assistant.

Partly, and we would rather be precise about it. Break-through messages support per-recipient translation into each recipient's language, with preview, edit, and stale detection. Feed posts have a reader-side translation service in the codebase, but there is no admin or reader setting exposed for it yet, and newsletter blocks are only partly covered. Treat full multilingual reading as not yet available.

Yes. Admins can enable or disable comments and the whole discussion layer, curate which of the 14 reactions are available (2–12), and auto-close discussions after an inactivity window. Users can report a comment; the report and reason are captured in an audit log, though it does not currently route to an admin review queue. Individual users can mute a post to silence their own notifications without leaving the conversation.

Not today. A send-time predictor exists in the codebase but is not wired into the send flow, so the product does not recommend or apply a send time. Quiet hours, per-trigger throttles, and blackout windows are respected for triggered communications.
