Sites & Communications onboarding (intranet home and company news)

Launching an intranet home and company news that actually reach a frontline workforce — the channels, the audiences, a home site pinned where people already look, and a first Must-Read whose acknowledgements come back from every site.

Rolled out to every employee at AutoZone (125,000), PetSmart (50,000+), A.S. Watson and Raley's (20,000) — and at larger retailers we are not permitted to name.

Built for: Retail · Healthcare · Manufacturing · Hospitality · Logistics

Frequently asked questions

How long does an intranet and communications launch take?

Two to four weeks for a home site, the company feed and a first Must-Read. What makes it longer is treating the launch as the migration of an old intranet: move the few pages people use at launch, and the rest as follow-on work with its own owner.

How do frontline employees without a work email get company news?

Through the mobile app, where posts arrive in the feed and by push, and through text and voice for the messages that must not be missed. Must-Reads ask each person to acknowledge, remind them, and escalate to their manager if they have not. Texting is off until switched on and has daily and monthly caps that need sizing to the company.

Who should be allowed to post to the whole company?

By default, administrators and leadership — for both everyday posts to everyone and for Announcements and Must-Reads. Managers can be allowed to send to their own reporting line. Widening it later is easy; recovering from a week of noise that taught people to switch notifications off is not.

How does the intranet stay current after launch?

Every page has an owner, and a page nobody has marked still accurate in 180 days appears in that owner's going-stale queue. Pages that link to a policy, a form or a person are flagged when those change, with an update staged for the owner to approve.
