What Is the Employee Data Agent?
The Employee Data Agent is a core AI-powered workforce assistant inside MangoApps Workforce. It provides instant access to employee profiles, team structures, the organizational hierarchy, employment details, HR document generation, and compliance checks — all through conversational questions in Ask AI.
Unlike other agents that require a specific module to be enabled, the Employee Data Agent is always available. Employee data is a foundational capability that every organization needs, so this agent is active by default for all businesses on the platform.
Need to know who your manager is? Want to look up a colleague’s department? Need an employment verification letter generated? Just ask. The agent retrieves live data from your employee records and organizational structure, and responds instantly.

Intent Detection
The Employee Data Agent responds to questions containing keywords like:
- profile, org chart, org structure, team member, direct report, employment detail, employee detail
- Phrases like “my profile”, “my team”, “who reports”, “who is on my team”, “look up employee”, “org chart”, “org structure”
When Ask AI detects these patterns, it routes the request to the Employee Data Agent with high confidence (0.85).

Documents are generated as drafts that require human review before distribution. A preview of the first 500 characters is returned in the response.

Data privacy is enforced by the agent — the LLM is instructed to respect data privacy and only share information the user is authorized to see. Employee lookup results are limited to name, email, title, and department — no sensitive data is exposed through the search tool.

When a capability is disabled, its associated tools are removed from the agent’s tool set and the LLM will not attempt to use them.
Always-On Agent
Unlike most agents that require their parent module to be enabled, the Employee Data Agent is marked as always_enabled: true. It is a core capability that does not depend on any specific marketplace module being active. The enabled_for_business? check always returns true.

The Employee Data Agent includes mobile web views accessible through the MangoApps native app:
