Overview

Live Boards has no data layer of its own — every board is a saved view already built in Power Tables, redrawn as a leaderboard, stat tile, table, chart, or trend line. Edit the view once and every board bound to it updates on its own, no separate feed to maintain. Without Power Tables enabled, a board has nothing to bind to.

One board definition also carries across every surface that shows it — home dashboards, Digital Signage screens, a full-screen Present mode that refreshes as a plain page on any TV or kiosk browser, and a tokenized link for pages outside MangoApps. Name masking is enforced once, in the rendering pipeline, not per surface: a board that hides identities on the dashboard hides them the same way on the break-room screen, and fails closed rather than leaking when a column can't support the policy an admin chose.

Highlights

Turn Power Tables saved views into always-current displays — ranked leaderboards, KPI stat tiles, tables, bar charts, and line trends that follow the data.
Place boards on home dashboards and Digital Signage screens through the platform widget system — one board, every surface.
Mask names for public screens: full names, first name plus last initial, or fully anonymized ranks — applied on every surface and enforced fail-closed.
Rank highest-first or lowest-first, so fewest safety incidents or shortest handle time can top the board too.
Add trend arrows against a companion column and a period label, so viewers see direction and timeframe at a glance.
Set a goal per board — a target value, at-least or at-most — and stat tiles color green or red with a progress bar while ranked entries that meet it earn a Goal badge.
See real movement: nightly board snapshots power trend deltas on stat tiles against a baseline you choose — yesterday, a week, two weeks, or a month back — no companion column required.
Watch a number move: Line boards draw the stat's nightly snapshot history as a sparkline — the last 30 days plus the live value, building itself night by night.
Run any board full screen in Present mode — a self-refreshing page for TVs and kiosks that aren't running Digital Signage — or rotate every board (or a curated set) as a full-screen playlist.
Embed a board outside MangoApps with a per-board opt-in tokenized link — read-only, masking applied, and rotating the token kills every shared URL.
Notify members who enter the top 3 on a people-ranked board — a nightly Inbox notification, opt-in per board.
Show every signed-in member their own rank on people-ranked boards, and let viewers with Power Tables access drill down to the source view.
Scope dashboard boards to an audience group; signage stays anonymous by design and shows the top five.
Pay-as-you-go per active board with no per-seat charge — archived boards cost nothing.

Capabilities

Board Types & Ranking
  • Ranked leaderboards (top-N lists) from a Power Tables saved view
  • KPI stat tiles aggregating a numeric column (count, sum, average, min, max)
  • Table boards showing the view's rows and columns
  • Highest-first or lowest-first ranking — smallest score can win
  • Optional trend arrows comparing against a companion numeric column of the same view
  • Goals: an optional target value with at-least/at-most direction — stat tiles color green or red with a progress bar; ranked entries meeting the goal get a "Goal" badge Signage stat slides show the goal state too
  • Trend deltas on stat tiles from nightly board snapshots, compared against a configurable baseline (yesterday, 7, 14, or 30 days back)
  • Line boards: a stat aggregate drawn as a sparkline of its nightly snapshot history — the last 30 days plus the live value Configured exactly like a stat (aggregate + column); with fewer than two points the board renders as a stat with a "history builds nightly" note until snapshots accrue
  • "My rank" footer: signed-in members see their own rank on people-ranked boards Dashboards and mobile; anonymous surfaces have no viewer and never show it
  • Period labels ("This week", "Q3") on the board
  • Bar chart visualization over the board's ranked entries
Privacy & Masking
  • Per-board name masking: full names, first name + last initial, or anonymized ranks
  • Masking applied on every surface the board renders — dashboards and signage alike
  • Fail-closed enforcement — masking a column that isn't a People column hides rather than leaks
  • Tenant-wide default masking policy for new boards
Surfaces & Audience
  • Boards on home dashboards via the platform widget system
  • Boards as Digital Signage slides (per-board publish toggle + tenant setting)
  • Audience groups scoping who sees a board on dashboards
  • Anonymous signage rendering — no viewer, top five shown, masking always applied
  • Full-screen Present mode for TVs and kiosks that aren't running Digital Signage A self-refreshing page at its own URL, open to any member the board admits — board names in the list open it
  • Present-mode playlists: rotate every board the viewer can access — or a curated, ordered set — full screen, one board per interval The member-visible Present rotation button on the boards list starts it; the URL takes ids to curate and order the set and an interval in seconds (default 60, 15 to 600) — plain page refresh, zero JavaScript, so any TV browser can run the loop
  • External embeds for pages outside MangoApps Per-board opt-in tokenized URL — read-only, masking applies, no MangoApps login required; rotating the token invalidates every previously shared link
  • Drill-down from a board to its source table and view Shown only to viewers who can access Power Tables — never on signage or public embeds
  • Rank-entry notifications: members entering the top 3 on a people-ranked board get an Inbox notification nightly Opt-in per board
  • Mobile-optimized views Read-only on mobile — board cards plus native board rendering with masking applied; authoring stays on desktop
Sources & Resilience
  • Power Tables saved views as the data source
  • Boards render "Source unavailable" when a source table or view is archived — never a broken widget
  • Archive and restore boards; archived boards stop billing
Limits & Specs

Use cases

Break-room sales leaderboard
A retail team binds a leaderboard to the "This week — top sellers" view and publishes it to the break-room signage screen. The top five show as first name plus last initial, and the board updates as imports land — no weekly poster to print.
Safety scoreboard where lowest wins
A plant ranks locations lowest-first on recorded incidents, with a trend arrow against last month's column. The floor sees direction, not just position — and fewest incidents tops the board.
KPI stat tiles on the leadership dashboard
Operations pins stat tiles — units shipped this week, average handle time, open tickets — to the leadership dashboard, each aggregating a saved view, scoped to a leadership audience group.
Anonymous performance ranking
A works-council-conscious team runs a productivity board with anonymized ranks: everyone sees the shape of the race and their own position, and no individual is ever named — on any surface.
One board, every surface
The same attendance-streak leaderboard renders on employee home dashboards for members of the participating departments and as a signage slide at the site entrance — one definition, one masking policy, both surfaces stay current.

FAQ

Yes. Boards bind to Power Tables saved views — Power Tables owns the data, Live Boards owns the display. Both apps are pay-as-you-go and admin-enabled, and each meters independently: rows stored on the Power Tables side, active boards on the Live Boards side.

Pay-as-you-go per active board per year: $60 each for the first 10 active boards, $48 each to 50, and $36 each above that. There is no per-seat charge and no floor. Archived boards are free — archive a board and it stops billing; restore it and it counts again.

Every board carries a masking policy — full names, first name plus last initial, or fully anonymized ranks — chosen when you build the board, with a tenant-wide default for new boards. The policy is enforced in one place in the rendering pipeline, so every surface inherits it: a board that masks on the dashboard masks identically on signage. Enforcement fails closed — if masking is pointed at a column that isn't a People column, the board hides identities rather than showing raw values.

The board renders a "Source unavailable" state instead of breaking or going blank — on dashboards and signage alike. Restore the source, or point the board at another view, and it comes back to life. Nothing crashes and nothing stale is shown as if it were current.

Boards are admin-created in the Live Boards app. Who sees a dashboard board is controlled by an optional audience group; signage has no viewer at all — screens are anonymous by design, show the top five, and always apply the board's masking policy. Audience groups apply to dashboards only, precisely because signage cannot know who is standing in front of it.

Yes — two shapes. Alongside ranked lists, stat tiles, and tables, a board can render as a bar chart over its ranked entries (top-N entities against their scores), or as a Line board: a stat aggregate whose nightly snapshot history draws as a sparkline trend — the last 30 days plus the live value. Both honor the same masking policy as every other surface. Pie charts and charts over arbitrary columns are not part of Live Boards today.

Dashboard boards render current data on every load, signage screens pick up changes on their regular polling cycle, and Present mode refreshes itself every two minutes — every write in Power Tables (an edit, an import) bumps a version the displays key off. There is no manual refresh step and no republish.

Yes — every board has a Present mode: a full-screen page at its own URL that refreshes itself every two minutes with a plain page refresh, so it survives on any browser-capable TV or kiosk. It is available to any member the board admits (the same audience gate as dashboards) — clicking a board's name in the list opens it. For a wallboard loop, the Present rotation button cycles every board the viewer can access full screen, one per interval (60 seconds by default, configurable from 15 to 600), and the URL can curate and order a specific set of boards — still zero JavaScript.

Yes, per board and opt-in. Enabling external embed on a board generates an unguessable tokenized URL that renders the board read-only with its masking policy applied — no MangoApps login required, which is exactly why it is off by default and enabled board by board. Rotating the token invalidates every previously shared link immediately.

Give a board an optional target value and a direction — at least (hit this number) or at most (stay under it). Stat tiles then color green when the goal is met and red when it isn't, with a progress bar toward at-least targets; ranked entries that meet the goal show a Goal badge; and signage stat slides display the goal state. Boards without a target behave exactly as before.

Only if the board opts in. On people-ranked boards with "Notify members who enter the top 3" enabled, a nightly check compares the board against the previous day's snapshot, and members who newly entered the top 3 get an Inbox notification. It is per-board and off by default — no board spams anyone out of the box. Separately, every signed-in member sees their own rank in the board's footer on dashboards and mobile, whatever the masking policy, because you always know your own name.

Not yet — Power Tables saved views are the v1 source. The source layer is deliberately a thin port, so additional sources (Shifts activity, Recognition, AI Sheets) can arrive later without changing how boards work. If your data can land in a Power Tables CSV import, it can be a board today.
