Microsoft Teams
1. What it is
Connecting Microsoft Teams lets MangoApps meet people where they already chat. Once someone adds the MangoApps Workforce app in Teams, their approvals arrive in that chat: Service Desk requests, change requests and recognition nominations, with Approve and Decline on the card. They can also use /mango commands to raise tickets or recognize a colleague. Admins can post a notice about a Communication (a sign-in link to read it) and shared items to Teams channels.
- Enablement: it takes two admins. Your MangoApps administrator connects Teams, and your Teams administrator makes the MangoApps Workforce app available in your organization.
- What it is not: asking Microsoft 365 Copilot about MangoApps work is a separate feature, controlled in Admin → Security → Connectors. See AI Assistants.
2. Standing it up
- Go to Admin → Organization → Integrations, choose Manage Messaging & Sharing, then Connect Teams on the Microsoft Teams card. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 account that can approve apps for your organization, and approve.
If Connect Teams is greyed out, MangoApps hasn’t finished setting up Teams for your environment. Contact support. - Choose the Team (or Teams) MangoApps may post into, then Save Teams.
- On the Microsoft Teams page, under Add App, pick an app and tick what it may do: Slash Commands, Notifications and Channel Posting. Communications needs a channel chosen here. The Commands card on the right shows which commands are now on.
- Ask your Teams administrator to make the MangoApps Workforce app available to your people in the Teams admin center.
- Tell your people. The Tell your employees card has a message ready to copy and send. Each person adds the app in Teams (Apps, search for MangoApps Workforce, Add).
- To check it works, add the app yourself. It sends a welcome message listing the commands you can use.
If people who add the app are told Teams isn’t connected although it is, your connection predates MangoApps recording your Microsoft 365 organization. Disconnect and connect Teams again once.
3. How it fits together
People are matched by work email. When someone adds the app or writes to it, MangoApps asks Teams for their work email, which must match their MangoApps email. Only people who are active in your organization are matched. If someone can’t be matched, the welcome message says so.
Approvals need the app added. MangoApps can only send someone a message in Teams after they have added the app. Until then MangoApps reaches them through its other notifications, as your notification settings allow.
A command runs only when two things are true. Its app was added with Slash Commands ticked, and the person has access to that app in MangoApps. /mango help lists what that person can use; the app’s command menu shows every command, whether or not it is turned on.
Your own records stay private. In a channel or group chat everyone sees the reply, so commands that show your own records (/mango mytickets, /mango ticket_status, /mango myrecognition) answer only in a 1:1 chat with the app.
Buttons act for the person who clicks. Approve and Decline check that the clicker is allowed to decide. The result is posted in the chat.
If Teams isn’t connected. Someone who adds the app or writes to it before your organization has connected Teams is told to ask their MangoApps admin.
Ask AI in Teams. Off by default. When an admin ticks Let people ask Ask AI in Teams on the Microsoft Teams page’s Ask AI card, people can type /mango ask followed by a question, or simply chat with the MangoApps Workforce app. Anything that isn’t a /mango command goes to Ask AI. They can also @mention the app in a channel or group chat. If the card says Not available yet, MangoApps hasn’t finished setting up its Teams bot for your environment. Answers use the person’s own MangoApps access and need Ask AI to be available to them. In a channel or group chat, personal questions (pay, leave, reviews and the like) are not answered, and nothing is changed; the reply says to ask privately. A change that someone asks for privately shows a card with Approve and Decline. Only the person who asked can approve it, it expires after 10 minutes, and it works once.

5. Settings
On Admin → Organization → Integrations → Manage Messaging & Sharing → Microsoft Teams:
- Teams: which Teams MangoApps posts into.
- Registered Apps: each app with the features it has (Commands, Notifications, Channels). To change an app’s features, add it again with the new ticks. The ✕ removes it.
- Default Channel (default: none).
- Allow Share to Teams channels, and Who can be sent a record.
- Ask AI: Let people ask Ask AI in Teams (default: off).
- Disconnect (on the Messaging page) stops everything above. Connecting again brings back the apps and settings you had.
6. More help
- Slack: the same features in Slack.
- AI Assistants: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT and Slackbot.
- Notifications: what MangoApps sends and to whom.
