Turn a chat message into a task
When someone asks you for something in Chat, make it a task so it doesn’t get
lost in the conversation. The task lands in your My Tasks, assigned to you,
with the message’s words and who asked.
This is in the OneMango Desktop app.
Doing it
- Open the message’s menu and choose Create a task.
- The title starts as the message’s first line, and the details carry the
message, any attachment’s name, and who sent it where. Change anything you
like, and add a due date if it has one. - Choose Create task. Chat says so, with a link to the task.
The task is always yours: it is assigned to you, and nobody else is told.
To hand work to someone else, create the task in Tasks instead.
When “Create a task” isn’t there
- Tasks isn’t open to you — your company hasn’t turned the Tasks app on,
or hasn’t opened it to you. - Your company has turned off creating tasks for yourself — a Tasks
setting. Managers can still create them. - The message can’t be one — a system notice, a message still sending, a
read receipt request you haven’t opened yet, or one with no words and no
attachment.
