Catch up after time away
Back after a day off or a long shift, three things tell you what changed: what
is new, what mentions you, and the threads you follow. Ask AI can then catch
you up on a busy conversation without you reading all of it, and without
posting anything in it.
See what is new
- On the desktop app, open Unreads at the top of your conversations:
every conversation with new messages, and how many. Looking does not mark
them read — choose Mark read on each when you are done. - Mentions lists the messages that mention you, and Threads the
threads you follow with their new replies — on the desktop app and the web.
On the phone, Mentions, Threads and Saved are at the top of Chat. - On the web, the conversation list’s Unread filter shows only the
conversations with something new.
Let Ask AI catch you up on a conversation
What Ask AI writes goes to your own Ask AI pane. Nothing is posted in the
conversation, and nobody else sees it.
- On the desktop app, a conversation you have fallen well behind in offers
Catch up with Ask AI when you open it. It puts the question in your Ask
AI pane; press Send. Unreads offers the same for each conversation. - On the web, a conversation with 20 or more new messages since you were
last there shows a banner with Catch me up. Any time, its Summarize
menu has Catch me up privately. - The phone has no catch-up offer; use Ask AI there instead.
You can also ask Ask AI “What did I miss?” from the Ask AI sidebar. It lists
the conversations with unread messages, how many each has, and the latest
message in each. Ask about one of them to go further.
Good to know
- The catch-up offers need Ask AI in Chat and its thread summaries to be on in
your company’s Chat settings. Both are, unless an admin turns them off. - Ask AI only reads conversations you are in.
