Skype is for doing things together, whenever you’re apart. Skype’s text, voice and video make it simple to share experiences with the people that matter to you, wherever they are.
With the latest release of version 11.2, MangoApps has completed integration with Skype.
You can now do a video call using Skype from people directory, social bar or from the user’s office card. To get started all you have to do is, just enter your Skype id in your profile to activate Skype calling.
1. Prerequisite to using Skype Integration in MangoApps:
a. Skype account and application – You should have an active Skype account and Skype application installed on your system. You can create your Skype account and download the application on your system by navigating to https://www.skype.com/en/.
b. Skype account added to MangoApps portal – You should have your Skype account added to your MangoApps profile, Below is the steps to add your Skype id to your MangoApps profile:
i. Navigate to your profile avatar and click on ‘View My Profile’.
ii. Edit your ‘Contact Details’.
iii. Add your Skype id to the ‘Skype’ field.
iv. Click on ‘Save”.
The integration happens automatically with Skype. You can now use Skype to communicate and collaborate with it.
2. Accessing Skype Integration
Skype integration can be accessed from several locations in MangoApps. There are 2 ‘default locations’ and 2 ‘optional locations’ from where user can access Skype:
Default locations: The 2 default locations from where Skype integration is available in MangoApps is under:
a. IM chat bar – Skype chat icon can be viewed next to user’s profile in IM chat bar.
b. User Profile – Navigate inside user’s profile to view Skype integration added to user’s profile.
Optional locations: The 2 optional locations from where Skype integration is available in MangoApps is under:
a. Profile Preview – Skype integration can be viewed on user’s profile preview under ‘People’ module. In order to view the integration, you will need to enable Skype field for ‘Profile Preview’ from the admin portal. You can also re-order the field as per your requirement from the admin panel.
b. Profile Directory Preview – When you hover over a user’s profile; a profile card appears that has Skype integration enabled. In order to view the integration on the Profile Directory Preview, you will need to enable the Skype field for ‘Profile Directory’ from the admin portal. You can re-order the field as per your requirement from the admin panel.
Clicking on the ‘Skype’ icon from any of the above locations will launch the application installed on your system and then you can then use the application for making calls over Skype.
