Wellbeing at Northstar, at a glance

For every Northstar employee, at any location and on any shift

Northstar is a fictional company used as sample context. The programs, services and roles on this page are examples; confirm every detail before publishing.

Use this page to find wellbeing support, check what your benefits cover, and see what is coming up. Each section tells you what you need to know and which Northstar app to open for details. Everything here is optional, and you can use it during your own time or as your manager and local schedule allow.

Page owner: People & Culture. Corrections: use the contacts at the bottom of this page. Review: the owner checks this page every quarter and whenever a benefit or service changes.

Find the support that fits

Four main routes, each with a few places to start

Mental wellbeing
  • Talk confidentially with a counsellor through the Employee Assistance Program (example service)
  • Join a lunchtime mindfulness session listed under Upcoming sessions
  • Ask your manager about a short break or schedule adjustment
Physical health
  • Check what your health plan covers in Policy Hub
  • Join a stretch or walking session near your location
  • Report a workplace strain or discomfort to your supervisor
Financial wellbeing
  • Review pay, retirement and savings benefits in Policy Hub
  • Attend a financial basics session listed under Upcoming sessions
  • Ask People & Culture about payroll or benefit questions
Everyday needs
  • Look up leave, flexible schedule and caregiving policies in Policy Hub
  • Find childcare or eldercare referral help through the EAP (example)
  • See open roles and internal moves in Job Board

Check your benefits before you decide

Policy Hub holds the current, approved wording

Find coverage and eligibility in Policy Hub

Open Policy Hub and search for the benefit you are interested in, such as health plan, EAP, leave or retirement savings. Eligibility can depend on your role, hours and location, so read the eligibility section on the policy itself.

  • Search by benefit name, for example "employee assistance" or "parental leave"
  • Check the effective date shown on the policy
  • Note who is eligible: full-time, part-time or shift-based roles may differ
Ask before you commit

If a policy does not answer your question, or you are unsure whether a service or treatment is covered, ask first. Contact People & Culture using the contacts below, and have your location and role ready.

  • Write down the service or provider you are considering
  • Ask in writing so you can refer back to the answer
  • Expect a reply within 2 business days (example target)

Want to talk to someone?

Pick the route that feels right. You do not have to explain everything to ask.

  • Your manager: for schedule or workload changes
  • People & Culture: for benefits, leave and workplace concerns
  • Employee Assistance Program: free, confidential counselling (example)
  • In an emergency, call your local emergency number first

Example service details only. Northstar confirms the EAP provider, hours and any local helplines before publishing this page.
