Find approved automation support

For operators and support teams working with automated equipment across warehouses and depots.

This fictional Northstar Distribution example covers the human-to-automation support interface. It helps you find relevant reference topics and prepare a clear handoff; local approved procedures remain authoritative.

Choose the support topic

Use these topic summaries to identify your question and the site’s established support route.

Operating boundaries
  • Use the current site-approved procedure for operating limits and safety-sensitive decisions.
  • This guide does not authorize equipment actions or replace local instructions.
Find the applicable reference
  • Ask the site automation support role for the current approved reference.
  • Compare its equipment and location scope with the question you need to resolve.
Fault handoff
  • Record the displayed alert text, time, affected area, and relevant preceding change when known.
  • Route the report through your site's established support channel.
Specialist support
  • The designated site automation support role coordinates the specialist handoff.
  • For urgent or safety-sensitive situations, follow the site's established local process.

Make the reference question specific

Equipment and location

Identify the equipment label and warehouse zone. Ask the site automation owner whether the current reference covers both; a similar equipment name alone does not establish applicability.

Displayed information

Quote the displayed alert text exactly and state when it appeared. Keep an observation separate from a proposed cause so the support role can interpret the report.

Handoff context

Give the affected area and any relevant preceding change you actually observed. Include the established support reference if one exists, so the next role can connect the same report.

Worked handoff example

Report observations and context; keep assumptions separate.

Example: “Zone C conveyor paused at 14:20. The display showed ‘Flow interruption.’ The affected area was the outbound merge. The pause was noticed after a tote accumulated at the merge; the cause is not confirmed. I routed this report through the site's established support channel.”

A useful handoff records the location, time, exact displayed alert text, affected area, and relevant change immediately beforehand when known. Follow the applicable site procedure for any immediate response and handoff; this example does not prescribe equipment actions.
