Role is the work; zone is the place
Use the event lead's assignment for event-specific direction
A role describes the coordination work someone is assigned to do. A zone identifies the area where that assignment applies. The same role can work in different zones at different events, so this sample reference does not establish a live assignment.
For your actual event, use the approved crew briefing and ask the event lead to resolve an unclear assignment or handoff.
Illustrative role handoffs
Fictional coordination examples; event assignments and local procedures take precedence.
| Sample role | Coordination focus | Handoff |
|---|---|---|
| Floor host | Welcome guests and identify the right role for a question. | Pass an out-of-zone question and its location to the zone lead. |
| Usher | Help guests navigate the area covered by the event assignment. | Refer questions outside the assignment to the designated lead. |
| Zone lead | Coordinate zone-level information and receive crew handoffs. | Refer unresolved or sensitive matters to the authorized event role. |
Example: a question outside your zone
A coordination handoff, not a guest-service or safety procedure.
-
1
Note the context
A floor host receives a guest question outside the host's assigned zone and notes the location and the question's general topic.
-
2
Avoid guessing
The host does not improvise an answer about another zone or represent an unverified message as current.
-
3
Route it to the zone lead
The host passes the question and location to the zone lead, who can check the approved event information or identify the appropriate role.
