Leave the next team ready

A fictional Northstar Services example: one office-support team hands an unfinished workshop-room request to the next team. Keep the facts, next action and ownership together. For operational or safety work, use the applicable approved procedure.

Gather the current information from the approved record.

  2. 2

    Talk through exceptions

Explain anything that changed or needs attention.

  3. 3

    Confirm ownership

Make sure each open action has an understood next owner.

  4. 4

    Update the record

Keep the agreed handoff where the next team can find it.

Keep the handoff clear

Describe what you observed

Separate a confirmed fact from a possible explanation.

Name the uncertainty

State what still needs checking and who will check it.

Resolve the uncertainty

What if the next owner is unclear?

Name the unresolved ownership question in the handoff and ask the team lead to identify who should take it. Do not treat a sent message as acceptance.

What if the information changes?

Update the original record and tell the next owner which fact changed and how it affects the next action.
