Pack for the destination, not just the journey
A simple way to keep personal items and shared equipment distinct
Before packing, check the approved instructions for your location. Identify what belongs to you, what is shared, and what has no clear owner. Label personal work items with the destination details required by those instructions. Agree an owner for shared items before they are handed over.
Do not assume an item should move simply because it is in your current work area. If ownership or destination is unclear, pause that item and ask the team equipment coordinator.
Move sequence
Use the local move communication for dates and location-specific instructions.
-
1
Check the applicable instructions
Confirm that the move communication applies to your location and team; note the stated packing and handoff arrangements.
-
2
Sort items by ownership
Separate personal work items, shared team equipment, and items whose owner or destination is not clear.
-
3
Label personal items
Use the destination and labeling details specified in your location's instructions.
-
4
Agree shared-item ownership
Ask the team equipment coordinator to confirm who is tracking each shared item and where it is intended to go.
-
5
Check arrival with the right owner
After the transfer, raise a missing or misdirected item with the team equipment coordinator, including its last known location and agreed destination.
Two kinds of items, two kinds of handoff
Keeping ownership clear prevents a personal packing task from being confused with a team coordination task.
Personal work kit
Example: a notebook, headset, and desk accessories assigned to one employee.
- Pack items you can identify as yours.
- Apply the destination label specified in local instructions.
- Keep any personal essentials separate from shared team equipment.
Shared team equipment
Example: a shared presentation adapter set used by several colleagues.
- Do not assign it to an individual by assumption.
- Agree a named team role to coordinate the handoff.
- Record the agreed destination using the team's move method.
