Get comfortable with your work setup

Use these prompts to understand the tools and spaces relevant to your role.

Available tools and workplace arrangements depend on role and setup. Treat these examples as orientation prompts, not a list of confirmed Northstar systems or rules.

Two parts of getting oriented

Start with the questions that affect the work you need to do next.

Work tools and shared materials

Ask which tools are used for your immediate work and where the current team materials live.

  • Can I sign in to the tools I have been asked to use?
  • Where should I look for the current team guide or shared files?
  • Who should I ask if access is missing or a tool behaves unexpectedly?

Workplace and day-to-day arrangements

Clarify the practical details that apply to your role, location, or work setting.

  • Where should I go or connect for my next scheduled activity?
  • How do I find out how a shared room or workspace is used?
  • Who can explain arrangements that have not been covered in my joining information?

If something is unclear

I do not have access to a tool I expected. What should I do?

Note the tool, the task you were trying to complete, and what happened. Ask your manager or onboarding point of contact who handles access questions.

Where do I get help using a work tool?

Ask your manager or onboarding point of contact for the current support route. If you already know the team that owns the tool, include its name and a short description of the issue.

How do I clarify an unfamiliar workplace arrangement?

Check the information shared for your role or location. If the answer is not there, ask the person coordinating your onboarding which team can confirm it.
