Agree how the work will run
Set day-to-day expectations with the employee and both managers.
Before work begins, agree who directs day-to-day priorities, the expected working hours and collaboration windows, the planned work location, and how changes will be discussed. Record the shared work plan so the employee and both teams can refer to the same understanding.
Assignment arrangements may depend on the employee's circumstances and location. Route questions about local employment, tax, immigration, or other regulated matters to qualified advisers and approved local sources; this page does not determine local requirements.
Discussion guide
Use the questions to structure a conversation; confirm location-specific matters through approved sources.

Worked example: make collaboration practical
Fictional Northstar Components coordination example.
Agree one useful overlap
The Harbor City manager needs a weekly handoff, while the Linden City team has a different meeting window. The employee and both managers agree on one overlap meeting and an asynchronous written update for other decisions.
- The meeting has a stated purpose: resolve cross-team priorities and confirm handoffs.
- The written update records owners and next steps so colleagues outside the overlap can follow the work.
Separate work planning from local advice
When a question arises about a location-specific employment or tax matter, the employee shares the question and relevant assignment dates with the mobility team, which directs it to the appropriate qualified adviser.
- Managers coordinate work expectations; they do not substitute for qualified local advice.
- Sensitive personal details go through approved private case-handling routes.
