Start in Shifts & Scheduling
For shift leads and frontline supervisors
Use Shifts & Scheduling to check schedules and handle the coverage tasks available to your role. The app is the place to act; this page is sample guidance, not a schedule or a record of a shift change.
Northstar's coverage rules can differ by location and role. Confirm the local process before changing a shift or treating coverage as confirmed.
Example: work through a coverage gap
Illustrative sequence only; confirm the steps against your location's process.
-
1
Check the shift
In Shifts & Scheduling, review the date, role, and coverage need shown for the shift.
-
2
Use the available coverage process
Follow the options enabled for your role. Do not tell a team member a change is confirmed until the app or the authorized process confirms it.
-
3
Route an approval if needed
If the proposed change requires approval, use the confirmed Northstar approval route and check the Approvals page for guidance.
-
4
Confirm the handoff
Check that the schedule reflects the confirmed arrangement and communicate the outcome through Northstar's approved team channel.
A coverage change may need approval
Do not assume every supervisor can approve every change.
Check the applicable local rule.
Use Frontline Execution for approval work configured for your role.
See Approvals for the sample request-review sequence.
Sample guidance: confirm Northstar's coverage and approval rules before publishing this page.
