Who handles workplace needs
This employee-facing reference explains service ownership by role, not the department team's internal work area.
The role names and responsibilities below are fictional Northstar Services examples. Start with the role closest to the need; a request can be routed if the next step belongs elsewhere. Employees should use the organization's published service channel rather than relying on an unlisted individual contact.
Service ownership at a glance
Illustrative role reference; the organization's published service route is the handoff point.
| Role | Primary responsibility | Example starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Facilities Coordination | Routes day-to-day facility and shared-space needs. | An issue in a named room or area. |
| Space Planning | Reviews space use, room setup, and proposed workplace changes. | A team needs a different layout for recurring work. |
| Workplace Programs | Coordinates employee-facing workplace information and programs. | A question about a department-run workplace program. |
What a good handoff carries
Keep the original location, intended outcome, and useful timing with the request as it moves between service roles.
Employee's starting point
An employee reports that Cedar meeting room cannot support a planned team setup.
- Names the room and floor.
- Explains the intended setup and next use.
- Describes what is not working without assuming a cause.
Role-to-role handoff
Facilities Coordination confirms the room and timing, then routes the space-layout question to Space Planning with those details.
- The employee does not need to identify the final owner.
- The receiving role gets the location and intended use.
- The owner can ask for only the missing details.
Use the published contact route
For a request already in progress, keep follow-up with its existing channel.
Use your organization's published service channel for a new request. For an open request, reply in that request's existing channel so the service owner can see the earlier context. This example intentionally lists roles rather than unverified people, email addresses, or phone numbers.
