This article is a brief guide to the email to feed functionality. The article is arranged by topics in the form of questions. Click any of the links below to be taken to the different topics:

  1. Share an update with non-MangoApps users
  2. Reply back to a notification received over email from MangoApps
  3. Post a team update via email
  4. Configure team alias
Note: Any inline images in the email content other than attachments will not be posted to MangoApps when replying back to a notification received from MangoApps or posting a team update via email .

1. Share an update with non-MangoApps users

A MangoApps user can share any update (status or team updates) with external email contacts simply by typing their email address in the Share over Email dialog. A response to the email by the external user can generate a comment in real-time in the activity thread on MangoApps. If they attach documents, those will also be uploaded to the network. External email users can choose to unsubscribe from the email if they no longer wish to participate.

Prerequisites

  1. Your domain administrator has enabled sharing from the Admin Portal -> Domain -> Share settings [Refer Fig. 1]
  2. Your domain administrator has enabled “email integration settings” from the Admin portal under “Domain” >> “Email settings” to receive response from external users [Fig. 2]

2.Reply back to a notification received over email from MangoApps

Any active MangoApps user (network user & guest user) can reply to an email notification received from MangoApps directly from their respective inbox — along with any attachments (1 or more). This will result in creating a comment for the respective feed on MangoApps. If comments are disabled on the respective post/page, the email will bounce back to the user.

Prerequisites

  1. Your domain administrator has enabled “email integration settings” from the Admin portal under “Domain” >> “Email settings” to receive response from external users [Fig. 2]
  2. User sending the email must be an active domain user and a member of the respective team (project, group & department)
  3. User has enabled email notifications

3. Post a team update via email

Any active user (Network users & guest users) can now email an update into any team (project, group or department) inside MangoApps simply by typing the email address of the respective team — resulting in a new feed on MangoApps. If the user has attached documents, those will also be uploaded to the network.

To find your team’s email address, click on “Project Tools” Refer screenshot below:

Prerequisites

  1. Your domain administrator has enabled “email integration settings” from the Admin portal under “Domain” >> “Email settings” to receive response from external users [Fig. 2]
  2. Ability to enable posting to a project/group/department by email is enabled by the team admin
  3. User sending the email must be an active domain user and a member of the respective team (project, group & department)

TIP: You can easily guess the email for any team (project, group or department) provided that the team admin has not changed the team email alias. The team email consists of <groupname>.<domainname>@<datacenter>.mangoapps.com. For example,  if your team name is “Sales” on the domain “iclickyes.mangoapps.com” hosted on Europe data center — then the default team email ID would be sales.iclickyes@europe.mangoapps.com, similarly:

  • An email sent to sales.iclickyes@latam.mangoapps.com will get routed to the team “Sales” on the domain iclickyes.mangoapps.com created on Latin America data center.
  • Email sent to sales.iclickyes@asia.mangoapps.com  will get routed to the team “Sales” on the domain iclickyes.mangoapps.com created on Asia Data center
  • Email sent to sales.iclickyes@sydney.mangoapps.com will get routed to the team “Sales” on the domain iclickyes.mangoapps.com created on Australia Data center
  • Email sent to sales.iclickyes@us.mangoapps.com will get routed to the team “Sales” on the domain iclickyes.mangoapps.com created on US Data center

For private cloud and on-premise customers, these addresses will vary. Please consult your domain administrator or community manager for details.

4. Configure team alias

The team admin can edit the alias to an easy-to-remember name by simply clicking on more button next to Project Tools -> Settings -> Email & Alias Settings.

Note: Your team alias can be different from your team name. Also, Team alias does not accept special characters. It can only have alphanumeric characters (and – and _).
