The newly added MangoApps features of Smart Reminders let MangoApps do the work of not just reminding you, but also the upfront work of setting up the reminders for your events, tasks and approval requests.

MangoApps also allows you to create a reminder in feeds for which you wish to be notified at a certain point of time. The reminder will be visible on the Calendar module of MangoApps.

Below are the salient features of Smart Reminders:

Smart Reminder for Event – When you RSVP that you’re attending an event (on MangoApps), a default reminder is automatically set on your behalf for 10 minutes before the start of the event. Reminders would be automatically set on all the events you RSVP as attending or may be attending. Changes you make here will be effective on events you RSVP from now onwards. To change an existing event reminder visit the event page and edit the reminder.

Smart Reminder for Task – When you have a task assigned to you (on MangoApps), a default reminder is automatically set 1 day before the task due date, on your behalf. Reminders would be automatically set on all the Tasks assigned to you. Changes you make here will be effective on new Tasks assigned to you from now onwards, for cases where a task was set prior to this update. To change an existing Task reminder select the Task in the list or milestone view and edit the reminder on it.

Smart Reminder in Document Approval – If you’re in the list of people who have to approve a document, you’ll automatically be reminded if it has been 3 days and you haven’t taken any action on the pending file approval request. Reminders would be automatically set on all the file approvals you’re responsible for. Changes you make here will be effective on new file approvals from now onwards, for cases where document approval was set prior to this update. To change an existing file approval reminder visit your profile > reminders page and edit the specific reminder.

Smart Reminder for Flagged Items – If you’re a domain admin,  you’ll automatically be reminded if it has been 3 days and you haven’t taken an action on a pending flagged item. Reminders would be automatically set on all the flagged items if you’re the domain admin. Changes you make here will be effective on new flagged items from now onwards, for cases where flags were set prior to this update. To change an existing flagged item reminder visit your profile > reminders page and edit the specific reminder.

Reminder for a feed – If you’re looking to create a reminder for a specific feed in MangoApps, then that can be done from the user portal.
All reminders are private to you. Only you can see them on your calendar.

Note: All reminders are private to you. Only you can see them on your calendar.

The Reminder will pop-up on your screen. The pop-up allows you to change the Reminder Time of the Next Reminder or Dismiss it.

How can user’s change the default Reminder Settings in MangoApps

By default, for all the above automatic reminders you’ll receive a reminder notification at 11:00 AM (your time zone) on the platform you’re logged into IE: web, desktop, mobile. Additionally, you would also receive an email notification at that time. In case you happen to change your RSVP to not attending/deliver the task sooner than the day before the due date/take the action to accept or decline on a pending file approval or join request, then you’ll not receive the reminder as you won’t need it anymore.

The default reminder values can be changed by you as per your preference by going to “Change My Settings > Smart Reminders” page. Finally, you have full control over the automatic reminder notifications including changing the time, the platform you receive it on and to completely turn them off.

User can decide on which platform user would like to get notified of the Smart Reminder

Note: To receive reminder notification on the web, mobile app or desktop/Mac app, you MUST be LOGGED-IN and ONLINE. We recommend installing the Windows or Mac App to always remain connected and never miss a reminder while at work. Install the iOS or Android App with push notifications turned on to never miss a reminder wherever you go. If you have the email setting above checked, then you will receive an email for the reminder.

If you later change your RSVP for the event to be ‘not-attending’ then your reminder set for that event is automatically removed to avoid you being notified on an event that you don’t plan to attend.

Can my reminder on a task I am responsible for be automatically changed or deleted?
When you’re the responsible person on a task then depending on your reminder settings, a reminder may be automatically created on that task for you. When you deliver that task or you re-assign it to someone else, then your reminder set for that task is automatically removed. This is done to avoid being notified on a task that you have delivered or re-assigned already (you can create a new reminder again on that task if you need to). Additionally, if your delivered task that is rejected or re-opened and the due date of the task hasn’t passed yet, then a reminder may be automatically re-created on that task for you (if your smart reminder setting for tasks is ON).

Can I set more than one reminder on one item?
You can only set one reminder for one item. So for 1 event you can set 1 reminder, for 1 task you can set 1 reminder etc. This is done to keep it simple for you to manage your reminders. You can however use the “snooze” capability or create a recurring reminder if you would like to be reminded again on the same item.
